Foundation Degree Computing and Digital Futures (FdSc)
This two-year Foundation Science degree equips you with the skills needed to thrive in today’s digital-driven world. Built around the concept of business transformation through technology, the curriculum covers areas such as artificial intelligence, digital strategy, programming, web and database development, and user-centred design. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, academic confidence, and real-world applications—there are no traditional exams; instead, you’ll complete practical assessments using industry-standard tools. A major highlight is the Workplace Impact Project, which lets you apply your learning directly in a professional setting.
Academic Journey
Duration: 2 years (Full-time)
Inside the Learning Segments
Level 4 (Year 1) — 30 credits each:
- Digital Skills for the Modern Workplace
- Learning for Life: Skills for Study and Work (Computing)
- Principles of Problem Solving and Programming
- Web and Database Technologies
Level 5 (Year 2) — 30 credits each:
- Business Intelligence
- Digital Business Transformation
- User-Centred Design
- Workplace Impact Project — Applied Work-Based Learning for Computing and Design
- Standard entry: At least 60 Level 2/3 credits, with a minimum of 15 at Level 3 (e.g., GCSEs, A-Levels, BTECs)
- Non-standard entry: Around 2 years of relevant work experience (some within the past year)
- English language proficiency: IELTS 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in all components) or equivalent
