Degrees with a Foundation Year
This foundation-year pathway is specifically designed to help students who do not yet meet standard entry requirements build a strong academic foundation before progressing to a full undergraduate degree. Over the first year, learners engage in subject-relevant modules alongside core academic skills in critical thinking, mathematics, digital literacy, and communication. This prepares them for the demands of degree-level study and allows smooth transition into the first year of a bachelor’s programme.

Duration: 4 years

- Academic and Research Skills: Building competence in critical thinking, writing, and independent study.
- Core Subject Introduction: Foundational study in the chosen discipline (e.g., business, computing, science).
- Numeracy and Digital Literacy: Enhancing mathematical and IT skills required for higher education success.
- Communication and Study Skills: Developing effective verbal, written and group-based learning strategies.
- Personal and Professional Development: Understanding student responsibilities and preparing for degree entry.
- Completion of secondary education (e.g., 5 GCSEs at grade 3/D or equivalent) or vocational qualifications.
- Applicants who have been out of education or come from non-traditional academic backgrounds may also apply and receive tailored support
- English language proficiency if required.
