LLM International Human Rights Law
The LLM International Human Rights Law is a postgraduate degree designed for law and non-law graduates which explores how international law protects human rights across the globe. This internationally recognised Master’s will give you the skills you need to progress in the human rights industry and can open up pathways to careers in judicial review, immigration practice, charity or NGO, international organisations, and policy work.
The course focuses on forms of global and regional (international) human rights regulation in Europe, America and Africa, comparing different systems and issues. You will develop a broad understanding of human rights law and theory, considering a variety of specific rights and other relevant international laws.

Compulsory Modules:

Elective Modules:
- Choose 3 modules from approved elective guide (30 credits each)
Total Credits: 180 credits
Induction:
- 2-week compulsory induction on Key Principles of English Legal System (especially for non-law students)
Teaching Approach:
- Prepare: Bite-sized lectures (~10 minutes) + guided independent research
- Engage: Interactive workshops (face-to-face, synchronous, or asynchronous online)
- Consolidate: Self-assessment activities and revision tools
KEY TECHNOLOGIES
Academic Entry:
- Minimum second-class honours degree (in any subject – law and non-law graduates welcome)
English Language (International Students):
- IELTS 6.5 or above with minimum 6.0 in each component
Additional Entry:
- 2-year induction course covering Key Principles of English Legal System (compulsory for non-law students)
No Prior Legal Knowledge Required
- Non-law graduates fully supported with foundational legal studies.

London: £15,000
Outside of London: £12,750
Non-domestic students
London: £19,600 (or £17,100 including a £2,500 International Bursary*)
Outside of London: £18,250 (or £15,750 including a £2,500 International Bursary*)
All fees above include a deposit amount of £250.

If you are an international student and are coming to the UK to study, then you must apply to the Home Office for a visa. In most cases you will need to obtain a Student Route visa. In order to apply for this visa you must be sponsored by an education provider which is licensed by the UK Home Office.
The Home Office has also introduced a Graduate Work visa which allows Graduates to work flexibly, switch jobs and develop their career in the UK for 2 years post completion of a UK degree. The Graduate route is an unsponsored visa, meaning students will not need a job offer to apply for this visa.
Please note that the University does not currently provide visa sponsorship to students for part-time study. We also cannot sponsor students for online courses due to Home Office regulations.
